Windshield Protection Film

A layer for the glass.

ULTRAFIT WinCrest windshield protection film, installed in Prior Lake, MN: a clear layer on the outside of the windshield that absorbs gravel strikes and lowers the chance of a chip or crack in the glass.

One rock.
Three bills.

A chip that spreads into a crack does not end with the glass.

  1. The windshieldA new one, fitted.
  2. The calibrationCars with driver-assistance cameras (ADAS) need them calibrated again behind new glass.
  3. The timeTime without the car while the glass is replaced and the cameras recalibrated.

The film is a sacrificial layer: it absorbs the strike, so a small one is less likely to spread.

ULTRAFIT’s latest.

ULTRAFIT’s current WinCrest film: clear, and applied without a heat gun.

Clear to look through
ULTRAFIT says it is optically engineered for clarity comparable to bare glass, at night too, without rainbow effects, haze or glare.
Protects against damage
Gravel, road debris and sand hit the film first. It lowers the odds of a chip or crack; a hard enough strike can still break the glass.
Cost-effective
Fewer windshield replacements, and fewer of the camera recalibrations that come with them.
Durable
Scratch resistant, with a removal-type adhesive that comes off clean when it is time to replace it.

Clear
answers.

Does it affect ADAS cameras, sensors or a head-up display?+

ULTRAFIT states its windshield films are optically designed not to interfere with ADAS systems, including HUD, cameras and sensors, so functions such as lane-keeping assist and collision warning keep working after installation.

Do the wipers scratch the film?+

The wipers themselves do not. Sand or gravel caught under a blade can scratch the film, and ULTRAFIT’s warranty treats wiper scratches as normal wear: keep the blades and the windshield clean, replace worn blades, and run the wipers only on a wet, clean windshield.

Is the film permanent?+

No. It is a consumable layer that protects the glass for a period and is replaced over time; how long it lasts depends on driving conditions, climate and wiper use.

Does removing it leave residue or damage the glass?+

No. ULTRAFIT says its removal-type adhesive comes off clean, without residue or damage to the glass, even after long use. Have it removed by a professional.

Can I install it myself?+

ULTRAFIT does not recommend it: the film needs precise alignment, tension control and adhesive handling, and a poor installation can mean distortion, bubbles, lifting edges and a void warranty.

Will it stop every crack?+

No film can promise that. ULTRAFIT’s installation guide says WinCrest significantly reduces the chance of breakage, but does not guarantee full protection against strong impacts.

Is it worth it on a work truck or a fleet?+

ULTRAFIT points to buses, trucks and construction equipment, which see a lot of gravel, sand and bad weather: fewer windshield replacements and less downtime. Its warranty runs 6 months or 6,200 miles and excludes off-road and gravel-road driving.
